Martin Guptill will Miss the Starting Matches of IPL 2017 Due to Hamstring Injury

There is a sad news for Kings XI Punjab team as their newly bought player, Martin Guptill who is an opener of New Zealand Cricket team will miss the beginning of Vivo IPL 2017 due to an injury to his hamstring. Kings XI Punjab bought this player for Rs.50 Lacs from Vivo IPL Auction 2017 which was held on 20th February, 2017.

We have seen many changes in Kings XI Punjab so far, as recently they have appointed Glenn Maxwell as their new captain for IPL 10 season and now their newly added opener who was set to play as Murli Vijay’s opening partner will miss the few matches of the beginning.

Martin Guptill will Miss the Starting Matches of IPL 2017 Due to Hamstring Injury

The New Zealand Batsman has been sidelined for around 6 weeks after GuptillĀ had scored a brilliant 180 in the 4th ODI vs. South Africa to level the series 2-2. He will definitely going to spend time onĀ strengthening his hamstrings that have given him problems since past few months.

Black Caps physio Tommy Simsek said, “At the moment Martin isn’t fit to play and the time we give him now to strengthen his hamstrings will play a big role in mitigating future risk too, we’ve put a programme in place to make sure that Martin can return to full strength and we’ll continue to monitor him closely.”

But interestingly, Guptill will travel all along with Kings XI Punjab team during the IPL 10 matches, but will miss the few matches in the beginning. Good news is that he will be constantly monitored by physio Tommy Simsek.
